Join JFCS Center for Senior Enrichment and Dr. Ettie Zilber for a ten week program on Yiddish for our Nostalgia, Camaraderie and our Brains.
This class is designed to introduce (or re-introduce) the Yiddish language to eager nostalgic participants. It is designed for those who recall some vocabulary from a time in the past when relatives and/or friends spoke Yiddish or for those who have spoken the language in the past. This will NOT include reading/writing in Yiddish (only transliterations)
Participants will be expected to complete assignments which are provided in advance of each session, engage in repetition of language activities, keep a personal glossary of new/forgotten words, memorize song lyrics, and participate in class activities, etc. Yiddish songs, lyrics, poems, proverbs, sayings, & colorful Yiddish curse words will be used to teach vocabulary and sentence structure.
When registering, please make sure you are able to attend the 10 week program. This class is available to 12 participants. Once 12 participants have registered, any additional registrants will be put on a wait list incase we have a cancelation.
