Soil Health Exploration Series
Join Greenville County Soil and Water Conservation District’s (GCSWCD) soil science experiment in this two-part series. During our first class, you’ll bury a pair of 100% cotton underwear in your yard or garden. Over the course of 8 weeks, microorganisms in the soil will help breakdown the fabric. When we reconvene in August, we’ll learn about how we can use the ‘soiled undies’ to help understand how healthy our soils are! Between the two live virtual classes, GCSWCD will send additional experiments you and your family can perform – all the while learning more about soil and it’s amazing properties and functions!

This course comes with a kit, and you’ll receive directions for a new experiment every two weeks. Let us know which branch to send your kit to by requesting your kit here:

Kit includes:
- 1 pair cotton undies
- 2 marking flags
- 1 small screen + rubber band
