What Your Mother Didn’t Teach You, You Can Learn In the Newspaper - Presented by Greg Wade, SCCGS Member
Historical newspapers are an open window into the past where you can learn much more than basic genealogical information such as dates and places of births, marriages, and deaths. They can be used to find lost ancestors, validate family legends, and even discover family secrets that your Mother never told you. Mr. Wade will provide an overview of historical St. Clair County newspapers and how they can be accessed using a variety of free and paid online sites. An overview of how to get the most out of online newspaper sites along with tips and tricks for doing research in online newspapers will be discussed using a series of discoveries made during the presenter’s own research. Although this presentation will highlight St. Clair County newspapers, the research tips and tricks provided are applicable when performing any online newspaper research.
