Schedule/Class Description below:

*Celebrate the Body*  20.00 hrs CET (Berlin-time)
September 9, 16, 23, 30
October 7

Referencing ongoing research with Festejo, an Afro-Peruvian dance I have engaged with since childhood, Festejo was cultivated and passed down by generations of Afro-Peruvian musicians and dancers. As a dance that was re-interpreted in the Afro-Peruvian cultural revival movement of the 1970's, what captivated me the most is the intention of remembering and honoring the body, celebrating it's physical capacity for joy and celebration. This class starts with slow movements and builds up to engage with fast and infectious rhythms encouraging agility and dynamic diversity, between the waves of the ocean and the directness needed to communicate clearly with the body. Open to all levels of movement.

Facilitated by Amelia Uzategui Bonilla, MA

She currently curates, choreographs and teaches with decolonial, anti-racist and transdisciplinary approaches.
