Asia Pacific Community Call: OCP Newest Advocacy Offer & Introduction on Medicine Procurement
OCP launched an advocacy offer to support civil society organisations who want to make the case for open contracting -- publishing and using open, accessible and timely information on public contracting to engage citizens and businesses to fix problems and deliver results.

The advocacy offer session (30 minutes) will be discussing the types of support that OCP advocacy offer could provide to support CSOs such as: multi-format training, comprehensive advocacy toolkit, and rapid response ‘mini grants’. Participants will have the opportunity to share questions & feedback on our new advocacy services & tools.

The session will be followed up by an introduction session on Medicine Procurement.

The second session will talk about benefits of implementing open contracting practices in medicine procurement, in particular enhancing access to quality medicines, preventing fraud and corruption, smarter analysis of the medicine procurement data and opportunities for community-led monitoring of medicine prices and medicine procurements. To illustrate the practical side of the endorsing open contracting principles in healthcare, participants will hear the impact stories from the LATAM and Eastern Europe regions. We will share country examples of how open procurement data enables medicine price reduction, eliminates corruption and pushes the procurement reforms, as well as highlight the essential role that community organizations play in these processes. We would like to use this opportunity to gather feedback on what technical support the audience needs to improve the national medicine procurement practices and where we can collaborate to boost the changes.
