SPE CSSG - “Californians as Leaders of Carbon Capture & Storage”
California has made a commitment to reduce its carbon footprint, and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) will be a vital strategy in this carbon footprint reduction. California is poised to be a leader in CCS due to the storage capacity of the rock, but also because the California oil and gas workforce already has a fundamental knowledge of the necessary workflow. Katy Larson, of Battelle Carbon Services, will discuss how California’s oil & gas professionals will be critical to delivering these crucially needed projects.

Katy Larson specializes in subsurface characterization and operations for fields on injection—water flood, steam flood, and gas injection with a current focus on carbon sequestration into saline reservoirs across the United States. Her expertise in regulatory and operations led her to her current role at Battelle Memorial Institute as a Carbon Sequestration Commercial Project Manager.
