You’ve found your ancestors on historical maps. Now you’d like to find those places on modern maps. To do this, you will need to use “geo-referencing,” that is, use landmarks on historical maps to line them up with modern maps. Modern digital tools and digital maps make this relatively easy to do, allowing you to visualize where your ancestors lived and traveled. In this class, we’ll discuss where to find historical and modern maps and show how to use free online tools overlay them with each other.
