On Liberty: Zooming into Museums Across the Country
Harbor Defense Museum
Join the Intrepid Museum and fellow veterans, service members and their loved ones for a virtual staycation! We will be Zooming into Fort Hamilton to visit with the Harbor Defense Museum. Harbor Defense Museum curator Justin Batt will highlight the rich history of Fort Hamilton, from its role in coastal defense to its present as a recruiting station. The Intrepid Museum’s curator of history and collections, Jessica Williams will explore Intrepid’s visits to New York City, which included refits for the ship and recreation for the crew. There will be time to ask questions and share stories.
Veterans Programs are made possible by public funds facilitated by the New York City Council Committee on Veterans, in partnership with the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. These programs are also supported by the Craig Newmark Philanthropic Fund. The Museum’s education programs are supported, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of Governor and the New York State Legislature.
