The purpose of ACPE's Master the FAFSA Training is to empower education stakeholders and provide them with the knowledge and understanding of the FAFSA process so that they can independently assist their students and families with successful FAFSA completion.
Participants of ACPE’s Master the FAFSA Training will be included in a monthly drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card.
ACPE's Master the FAFSA Training will be available on every Tuesday and Thursday, from 2:00 to 3:30pm, between January and March 2023. You only need to register and attend one session; however, multiple sessions are available to accommodate a variety of schedules.
The FAFSA identifies two student populations: Dependent and Independent Students. Since there are different components involved in completing the FAFSA between these two student populations, we have scheduled Master the FAFSA Training sessions for participants who work with each student population.
Each training session, January through March 2023, will cover the FAFSA process for Dependent Students. For FAFSA purposes, Dependent Students include:
• high school seniors;
• prospective college/career training students under 24 with access to parents' tax information.
However, the following training sessions will be entirely devoted to the FAFSA process for Independent Students and Special Circumstances: Jan 10; Jan 26; Feb 14; Feb 23; Mar 14; Mar 23. Independent Students, as defined in the FAFSA, include:
• foster youth;
• homeless youth;
• individuals with dependent children or other dependents;
• individuals over 24
