Talk description:
The relational dynamics between a therapist and a traumatized client are known to be fraught with challenges and pitfalls. But what about when a whole team of clinicians attempts to navigate those challenges together? Trauma cannot be treated alone, but neither is it simple to treat it together. This presentation will look at the common effects of trauma on team dynamics, team decision-making and how theory of mind and perpetrator awareness can help a team navigate these situations.

Learning objectives:
- Participants will renew their understanding of the common dynamics that occur between therapists and clients who have experienced trauma.
- Participants will develop a basic grasp of how these dynamics are amplified and expressed within teams and systems of care.
- Participants will be equipped with strategies for managing or diminishing these effects within teams.
- Participants will understand how these dynamics impact the ability to hold clients in mind and make client-centered decisions.
