In what ways and to what extent does the pedagogical application of the Black Historical Consciousness theme of Black Agency, Resistance, and Perseverance help students understand the histories and experiences of African Americans?
From the contributions of ancient African Kingdoms to current socio-political issues affecting Black communities–what are best practices for engaging students in Ethnic Studies topics? In this interactive series, participants will explore a theme-based framework for teaching African American Studies, as well as its application in the classroom using relevant resources. This session will focus on the theme of Black Agency, Resistance, and Perseverance, providing participants with an overview of the topic throughout history.
