ADVENTURES IN GREAT SYMPHONIC MUSIC with BRUCE PULK
JFCS Center for Senior Enrichment invites you to ADVENTURES IN GREAT SYMPHONIC MUSIC with BRUCE PULK, PRINCIPAL TIMPANIST, PHOENIX SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Join us for a one-hour talk on great symphonic music from Bach to modern times designed for everyone from the musical novice (no experience necessary!) to the skilled professional. Each discussion is theme oriented with clever titles that wipe away the mysteries of symphonic music.

February 16 at 1pm: Shakespeare In Love, or Sounds of Shakespeare. Shakespeare has been the inspiration for so many composers, and we’ll include a few (especially the Tadeusz Baird setting of 4 Love Sonnets – beautiful works) up to Leonard Bernstein’s take of Romeo and Juliet (West Side Story).

March 2 @ 1pm: My Three Sons. The famous Strauss family of Vienna has quite a history!

April 27 @1pm: Solomon the Wise: A discussion of Ernest Bloch’s great musical tribute to the Biblical king with an exceptional symphonic fantasy on Hava Naghila.

May 11 @ 1pm:17 Ladies Night Did you know that there are many wonderful composers who were woman? We all know the famous composers, Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, Strauss, but where are the girls? They've always been there. Let's take a look at some incredible composers that confirm that great artistic expression is not dependent on gender. This chat proves once again, that gender has nothing to do with the ability to provide deep and great artistic expression.
