IE Webinar: Living history at the Hungarian OpenAir Museum: a case study

In this webinar we will speak about the complex living history program at the Hungarian Open-Air Museum in Szentendre. It is set in the recently opened Transylvanian building complex of the institution, which offers varied knowledge-transfer methods and innovative exhibition interpretation, providing a memorable museum experience for visitors.

Zsuzsanna Nagyné Batári works at the Hungarian Open-Air Museum as head of the Department for Science and Interpretation. She is an ethnographer and has carried out research in several different topics so far: rural architecture, gastronomy and way of life, among others, and has been responsible for curating different types of displays in both indoor and outdoor exhibitions. She is also interested in how the Skanzen Museum can mediate information for visitors, in an open-air context, including adults, students, seniors, children and other segments of the audience. Exhibition planning and the methods of interpreting tangible and intangible cultural heritage are important for her, together with finding new and innovative ways to mediate content creatively. She coordinated the living-history program in the recently opened Transylvanian building complex at the Skanzen Museum, Szentendre.
