Sierra Green - Genealogical Research Opportunities and Limitations in Institutional, Reform School and Orphanage Records at the Heinz History Center
Genealogical researchers have long faced barriers to accessing the historical files of ancestors whose lives intersected with institutions, orphanages, reform schools, and other similar sites. Learn more about the notable research opportunities and limitations that exist within these records at the Heinz History Center. This presentation will address the specific archival collections that fall into these categories and any relevant access restrictions in place. Special focus will be paid to a newly created finding aid and index to the Thorn Hill School for Boys collection, which was generously underwritten by the North Hills Genealogists.
