Theme: What is Meaningful Community Engagement? Overview of the Center for Community Health Alignment, the EMCE (Equity through Meaningful Community Engagement) initiative, and core elements of meaningful community engagement.
Speakers: Mike Young, MA, CHW & Kim Rawlinson, MPH, CHW.

Mike Young is a Community Health Worker, Cultural Anthropologist, and the Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion for The Center for Community Health Alignment overseeing the Equity through Meaningful Community Engagement (EMCE) initiative. With over 10 years working with marginalized communities, he has led an annual Latino-focused grassroots community leadership gathering since 2017 and has trained over 2,000 professionals in cultural competence and humility. Being the son of an immigrant mother, he leverages that experience to reach others from a place of deep understanding and compassion.

Kim Rawlinson is a Community Health Worker (CHW) Program Manager with the Center for Community Health Alignment (CCHA). She has over ten years of experience in health disparity reduction by fostering community outreach and engagement in underserved and rural communities in South Carolina. Additionally, she has experience working with academic and community-based partnerships, research, and project management and implementation. At CCHA, Kim coordinates a research project centered around meaningful community engagement and CHW capacity-building efforts.
