PRISM Risk Control Training: Multi-Employer Worksites

Public entities are exposed to multi-employer worksites when they hire outside contractors to perform construction, environmental, or janitorial services, repairs and deliveries. This class explains Cal/OSHA’s policy for enforcing multi-employer worksite regulations, the types of citable employers (exposing, creating, controlling, correcting) on the worksite, and the affirmative defense available to exposing employers. Other areas discussed are designating a competent person, considerations when selecting a contractor, and understanding how the Cal/OSHA regulations became the standards and duty of care in negligence actions against third parties.
