Phi Beta Kappa Delaware Valley Virtual Book Club
Virtual discussion of "The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee: Native America from 1890 to Present", by David Treuer, PhD, talented writer and professor of literature at the University of Southern California. Son of an Ojibwe tribal judge mother and an Austrian Holocaust survivor Jewish father, and raised on Ojibwe lands in Minnesota, Treuer has crafted an antidote to other popular books that decry the end of Native Americans, instead weaving a narrative of their resilience, adaptability, and successes in the past century.  National Book Award Finalist, longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal, NY Times Bestseller, and a Best Book of 2019 by the NY Times, TIME, Washington Post, NPR, and numerous others. No charge event.
