Psychoanalysis under the Conditions of War (event 2)
The second event of the series

The question of an "ethical stance" has remained a central theme for psychoanalysts working right now in the midst of the war in Ukraine. This subject was discussed on the first evening of our round table discussion on June 14, 2022. Since many attendees and discussants expressed the strong wish to keep this discussion going, we decided that the panel should meet again with interested psychoanalysts, psychologists and other professionals from the Ukraine and other countries. This evening will focus on more detailed questions of treatment under conditions of war and provide the speakers and the audience with the opportunity to talk about concrete cases affected by the war. We will begin with a clinical presentation of a current case by a psychoanalyst from Lwiw. The core question will remain the same: Can a position of "abstinence" and "neutrality" be maintained when one's home country is under siege and human lives are in imminent danger? Discussants will again be Oleksandr Filts (Danily Hrivatsky Medical University, Lwiw/Ukraine), Gerard Fromm (Erikson Institute at Austen Riggs, Stockbridge/USA) , Francoise Davoine (Psychoanalyst, Paris) and Ghislaine Boulanger (NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, New York). The discussion will be moderated by Jeanne Wolff Bernstein (Freud Foundation US, New York/Vienna).

The discussion will take place on September 08, at 6:30pm (Vienna time) and last until 8:00pm. Simultaneous translation (English-Ukrainian) will be provided.
