The Naming of Death's Door
The DCMM Maritime Speaker Series is proud to welcome DCMM Collections Coordinator Brennan Christianson for an in-person presentation on Thursday, January 6 at 7pm. The Maritime Speaker Series is graciously sponsored by the Door County Medical Center.

Brennan will discuss the origins of the naming of Death’s Door, the treacherous passage found on the northern tip of the Door Peninsula. The presentation will discuss his research on the history of the passage, the time period in which the naming may have occurred, and the numerous attempts by historians to explain the name of the passage. Come find out about the early history of the Door Peninsula and the possible origins of the fearsome name of Death’s Door.

Brennan Christianson is the Collections Coordinator for the Door County Maritime Museum and Site Manager of the Death’s Door Maritime Museum. He attended undergrad at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay for History with minors in German and Humanities. He recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Master’s degree in Public History and a certificate in Museum Studies.
