**REMINDER*** Talking to Your Child about Autism - with Amanda McGuinness

Amanda Mc Guinness, Training Officer with AsIAM – Ireland's National Autism Charity, will facilitate a presentation for Plan Dublin 15 on the topic of - "Talking To Your Child About Autism".

In this presentation, Amanda will seek to
support parents of autistic children post-autism identification to talk to their children about their autistic identity.

Amanda will share her unique viewpoint as an Autistic adult and as a parent to three autistic sons.

She will provide neuroaffirmative advice and support on how to talk to your child about their autistic identity.

She will highlight the importance of understanding and accepting yourself as a neurodivergent individual in a predominantly neurotypical world.

She will discuss how to support your child in understanding their autistic identity, highlighting the importance of normalising differences in humanity, physical and brain differences.


She will explore the strengths of being Autistic and explore challenges faced by autistic individuals today. She will recommend reading materials, together with a host of additional resources.


There will be a short Q&A session at the end of this talk.
