Erik Edstrom was raised in Stoughton, Massachusetts, graduated from West Point in 2007, and then deployed to Afghanistan, where he served as an infantry platoon leader. He graduated from the US Army Ranger School, received the Rippetoe Trophy during the Best Ranger competition, and was selected for the US Special Forces. After leaving the Army as captain, Erik earned both an MBA and a master of science degree from Oxford University, where he studied climate change. He is the author of Un-American: A Soldier's Reckoning of Our Longest War, and of the lead chapter in newly published Paths of Dissent: Soldiers Speak Out Against America's Misguided Wars.
