Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley (JFSSV) is pleased to be offering a four-session workshop (on Zoom) that is open to the community based on Rabbi Rachel Cowen (z’l) and Dr. Lydia Thal’s book, "Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience and Spirit." Join us for a series of vibrant discussions on how to approach aging mindfully and with meaning. These sessions will be led by JFSSV’s new Community Coordinator of Wellbeing, Rabbi Barnett Brickner.
As the authors of the book point out, “There is no set of instructions for getting older. On the other hand, those of us currently in this stage count ourselves as part of an extraordinary two stream making generation-pioneer in understanding and making the most of this ‘third chapter’ of life.”
About Rabbi Brickner
Ordained by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1987, Rabbi Brickner comes to us with over thirty years of congregational and pastoral experience. Prior to joining JFSSV, he was the Chaplain and Director of Mindfulness and Wellbeing for the Institute on Aging in San Francisco. As the coordinator of Community Wellbeing for JFSSV, in addition to offering workshops like this one, Rabbi Brickner leads support groups for Bereavement and Grief, Caregivers, and for people who could use some support living in a pandemic and post-pandemic world. Hi is also available to meet privately with people looking for emotional support and spiritual direction.
