It's like paying for a warranty in advance. As long as it's invoiced ahead of time, it's federally accepted. (We had this question internally already)

55:29
If university infrastructure is charging PI, shouldn't it be considered allowable costs in DMSP?

56:24
I meant if university is charging PIs for storing data, I think it is allowable cost,

59:44
I agree Seonyoung. If there is a standard cost that the University charges everyone, then it can be charged to the grant. But if non-grant funded people are not charged, you can't just make up a charge for someone who receives grant funding.

01:02:34
Thanks Chetna! We have Research Infrastructure Storage service that offers storage based on a tier system so fee varies depending on how much data you store and how much you archive. I told PIs that these fees are allowable cost based on what NIH has been saying. Do you agree? If not, I might ask NIH directly to get clarification.

01:03:59
Very much agree Seonyoung. That matches all the budget guidance I've seen on other projects for similar costs.

01:04:14
We offer Box for free but this one is not. It seems to be this is a perfect example of allowable cost.

01:04:54
Great! I am glad to hear we are on the same page. Thanks Chetna!

01:05:52
No reviewers don't get to see the full DMS plan. They wlll only see the half page summary in budget justification

01:06:15
Not the entire 2 page DMS plan.

01:06:49
Not the entire 2 page Plan, correct.

01:07:31
This is straight from sharing.nih.gov: "Peer Review will not see or review DMS Plans, but will consider any related budget items"

01:08:23
Fernando - that is also my understanding. Mixed messages.

01:08:27
That is correct.

01:09:08
I meant to indicate that budget justification section. Thank you for that correction.

01:09:54
*clarification

01:11:34
Thank you Ishwar. Seems like that's a source of confusion as I have also heard at other webinars that reviewers would have access to the DMSP

01:13:03
The confusion was around "See at all" versus Review. Here is the guidance from the website.

01:19:59
have these services?

01:20:22
We do (University of Arizona)

01:20:39
Vivli provides it via a subcontract with another commercial entity.

01:21:17
Thanks you, Fernando and Brian.
