Boulder tickets for the Public Domain Theatre Festival are here: https://bit.ly/pdtfboulder

48:09
I would like to clarify that the name of the organization I am representing is Beyond Academia Free Skool (agenda states “Boulder Academia…”) thank you!

48:32
My apologies!! thank you

53:31
My thought is to keep it very simple. From my legal perspective, diving into the many many criteria that impact whether companies are HQ'd in Colorado, for example, are extremely complex.

58:24
Yaelaed has their hand up.

01:04:42
I would also like to clarify: our organization name is Butterfly Effect Theatre of Colorado. Thanks!

01:05:23
BAH Pardon!

01:05:24
I am a yes to the motion to accept the applications as eligible

01:09:08
I move to accept all three reports

01:09:48

01:17:17
I support that idea

01:18:23
I don't need to see the link

01:18:26

01:18:42
The idea that it is a final extension

01:19:08
June 1st

01:23:40
+1 on Kathleen's comments

01:24:34
Yes to the motion for final extension

01:27:20
Exactly, Georgia.

01:34:55
Well said Matt!

01:36:12
Helpful clarification Lauren!

01:38:11
I'm' not sure that falls under any of our rubric criteria, though. What would Georgia say that consideration falls under?

01:39:11
Capacity Building*

01:42:58
I asked them about them not using the grant for improvements to the space and they answered, supporting that it would not be used for improving the building.

01:43:38
I specifically had them clarify that it would NOT be used for capital improvements

01:47:59
that stated what I was struggling to articulating very well, Matt. Thank you

01:52:28
Great drama Bruce :)

01:53:18
Yes to approving the first group of organizations

02:00:20
Approve the spark

02:04:09
Approve the grants

02:07:11
I was happy to see that there was blind scoring.

02:11:21
Thank you for asking that question on metrics, Kathleen, I was wondering the same.

02:13:01
I stick very closely to the rubric, specifically the subcategories and descriptors of what we are looking for to meet the city goals. I score all applications on each criteria all at once, so I am in the same frame of mind about it while I'm looking at them all. It usually takes me 5 or so full evenings to read through everything. I look very specifically for growth--innovation. I look specifically for evaluations and data measuring to have measured outcomes that are linked to specific goals. I look for more than lip service to DEI principles and that there is effort at leadership, artist, and audience levels.

02:14:05
I look throughout the entire application for scoring on each section to give the orgs the highest opportunity to get points

02:18:37
Hear, hear, Eboni

02:21:33
I would just add that I was very happy that the voting is blind now

02:21:51
As a community member that used to see the previous process, I thought it was troublesome

02:24:08
I’d just like to say that I appreciate when commissioners make comments especially when scoring low. when that is nonexistent- it feels like we aren’t getting a fair chance to address the concerns because we don’t understand them. I know commenting is a lot but from the applicant pov- it’s so important.

02:24:17
Thank you for that feedback!

02:24:38
Amanda here--an artist in Boulder for almost 13 years now and Artistic Director of The Catamounts. I am so grateful when commissioners give specific feedback accompanying a lower score in the form of a question or opportunity to explain more. It feels like a dialogue and an opportunity to collaborate on what is a shared goal--making a more vibrant Boulder arts community.

02:24:48
I really appreciate the idea shared by Bruce regarding a QA training session, that feels worthwhile for both BAC and grant applicants

02:26:21

03:37:13
We come and integrate quickly from Manhattan

03:38:02
Great conversation for the October retreat!

03:38:36
I feel like if we are trying to engage higher capacity for artists to move here, a length of residency cuts against that.

03:39:47
would someone really move here for a $3K grant?

03:39:53
That too

03:41:55
I did see a fe years back a town in Kentucky (???) giving away houses for artists to move there.

03:43:12
Very interesting idea Maria!

03:43:25
Do not support length of residency

03:44:44
yes

03:45:05
Thank you Matt and Lauren!
