Could we have the video full screen if possible please?

37:08
can we have full screen please

37:37
thank you

40:31
We've got one of those in Salisbury - https://sharesalisbury.co.uk/

40:40
Great idea and well used

41:09
We’re looking to start one, there’s great one near us in Leeds ‘But Nowt LS6’

41:38
Thanks @Marc - I'll take a look!

41:44
How is risk managed with power tools, etc., if a council is running a sharing system like that? Power tools can be risky if faulty....

42:30
Hello, is this being recorded, and will I be able to watch later when I am home, as the work computer has no speakers and i'm struggling to keep up with the subtitles

42:47
We have Library of Things with some power tools here in Exmouth, Devon.

42:51
Check out buynothingproject.org I think this has lots of resources for setting them up

42:54
All power tools in our (Frome’s) Library of Things are regularly PAT tested.

42:55
We ha a library of things - which is just what Mike was talking about here in Essex

43:18
Are there any West Sussex councils on here?

43:49
Parish councils would need to appoint professional risk manager to provide advice on power tools sharing. There would need to be a designated maintenance expert, a register of users (after initial supervised instruction) --- handled this sort of thing when a Risk Manager at a University. Not all parish councils would have people on council to do this, but could network/tender for this expertise.

44:15
Sharing schemes probably need appropriate insurance / PAT testing etc. But don't let this put you off.

44:15
Thanks Anne.

45:11
who would councils contact if they want a wind farm?

46:14
Octopus Energy generation, Plots for Kilowatts - looking to match landowners

46:17
We had useful basis to work from: MK Unitary Authority declared a Climate Emergency in 2019, so we, as local Town/Parish Councils were then able to pass motions to support it, then start advisory groups to promote measures locally

49:08
Is it possible to have a copy of Amy's slides at the end please? There is so much in these.

49:31
Ditto Jemma.

50:06
We are getting the links and slides afterwards I believe.

51:44
Insurance and 'sharing schemes' --- if parish/town councils tender for professional support -- the professionals' own insurance should be extended to cover the contract. Alternatively, councils may be able to extend liability insurance with existing insurer. Hirer to be responsible for repairing any damage. Lots more detail i could share

52:25
PCs can also encourage their residents to use the Giki Zero toolkit. It's free and user-friendly and gives you rewards and suggests other things you can do. zero.giki.earth

53:19
Thanks for that 🙂

53:43
Yes, thanks @Josey

54:59
@Anne Hudson - maybe best to share info with NALC and they can make more widely available? Thanks

57:12
OK -- will do --- contact ovingtonparishcouncil@btinternet.com --- i'll try to fill out a Q&A to help with power tools risk assessment and prof advice

58:42
Nice one @Anne Hudson :-)

01:03:58
Can we have a copy of Chris' slides please?

01:09:37
what was that website?

01:09:41
what was the website pls it disappeared too quickly

01:09:47
https://www.kendalclimatejury.org/

01:10:09
thank you

01:15:30
We changed our PC Financial Regulations so that Impact of Climate Change is a criteria to be considered in financial matters.

01:15:57
An an aerobic composter produces compost, methane[ can be used as fuel] ] and heat- for green houses. REACT on the Roseland are researching getting one for business waste to prevent it being transported out of county, as well as providing local compost etc.

01:17:03
Hullo Josey. I am here as someone who had to drop out suddenly. Good idea. Graham F.[ Will ask you for some templets.,please]

01:19:34
Hi!@Graham... I'll email you!

01:19:51
I like the suggestion about harvesting rainwater for hanging baskets. It's a small change but it's something that parishioners can do at home too. The PC can show the way.

01:20:16
Water butts

01:20:55
Absolutely @Marilyn :-)

01:21:42
apologies have to leave I have another meeting

01:23:02
Agreed Chris. Here in Ulverston we're struggling with the County Council on delivering long term 20mph. We managed to sneak it in under the radar with Covid restrictions, but now trying to get a more permanent solution.

01:23:26
police can be negative re 20 mph zones

01:23:45
Same issue in Buckinghamshire, the County Council have come out and said they will not support 20mph zones

01:23:52
Every PC and TC and City C should have at least one thermal imaging camera/facility to let residents check if their homes are leaking heat. Big incentives are needed to get school leavers do apprenticeships in retro fitting- apparently there is a shortage of trained retrofitters.

01:25:00
Thank you Amy that was helpful Lionel

01:25:09
@Nick Howell, will the links in the chat be shared later? I can't see a 'save the chat' option... thanks!

01:25:45
Cornwall Council seems to have been converted to a very wide-spread" Twenty is plenty" approach. Suspect that take-up will be the snag. My Parish has supported it having pushed for ages. Graham Ford

01:26:04
That's an idea @Sheelah - I bet my house is really leaky. Maybe we could borrow one from somewhere

01:26:31
The recording, presentations and chat will be shared following today's event

01:26:38
All - take a look at a live traffic monitoring service we have installed in Lymm. <£100 per install, hosted by homeowners. Tracks speed, vehicle type, direction, time without capturing people's faces or car registrations. We have some great data already and back end service is free. www.telraam.net

01:27:04
we do need more data re biodiversity or it is impossible to assess effects.

01:27:32
In Devon, one local council has rejected the idea of universal 20 in the town. But Devon CC seem quite favourable, but process slow to implement.

01:27:42
Please Nick at NALC - may there be a transcript of the chat. Thanx - Graham F (chair : Smallers]

01:28:31
Tim, but what was that rejection based on? Was it an informed decision, or a biased/kneejerk decision.

01:29:21
Tass, I sked my PC to purchase one and they refused. However, maybe if it was suggested that a PC etc bought one for use by local school children, it might be looked on more kindly, that and getting Councillors to KNOW MORE ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING AND CLIMATE CHANGE. a lot of councillors still have very little understanding AS TO HOW SERIOUS CLIMATE CHANGE AND co2 EMMSSIONS ARE

01:29:44
I can't be absolutely sure, as I haven't asked any individual councillors there involved in decision.

01:30:00
Repair and Share Network UK. Lots of templates and support. Maybe easier as a CIC than council run

01:31:13
I like your line of thinking @Sheelah! Where's your PC? I'm at Hampton Lucy

01:31:43
Thank you all...have to go to another webinar now!😜

01:32:24
Thank you I have to leave now.

01:32:47
wind farms can definitely have an adverse effect on wildlife and need to be sited carefully

01:32:48
I bought and distributed copies of,' Drawdown, the comprehensive way to reverse global Warming,' edited by Paul Hawken to my CC cabinet a couple of years ago, and the chief executive, and there is an updated Paul Hawken publication now, called,'REGENERATION,' with some new aspects like SEAFORESTATION for example. Every councillor SHOULD HAVE A COPY EACH.

01:33:10
could you repeat the document for including in NP please

01:33:36
Following today's request for roadmaps and plans (also recent NALC climate emergency network discussions around more detail on how things can be done), one forum and template for sharing good practice is being developed at www.thecommunityworks.co.uk/local-projects-page-under-development/, all contributions very welcome

01:33:49
When we did our Neighbourhood Plan, we were told not to say things you can or can’t do, but word policies like ‘applications including e.g. ground source heating will be supported’

01:33:50
Our PC Enviro Group attends the social groups in our community and give talks Climate and BioD Emergencies and talk about we can do as individuals and groups locally. We have even been paid to give talks which has funded buying wildflower seeds for seed giveaways.

01:34:35
The Centre for Alternative Technology is full of useful resources that I'm intending to draw on.https://cat.org.uk/info-resources/zero-carbon-britain/

01:34:45
As well as slides/video, will we also be given copies of questions, answers and chat?

01:34:48
?

01:39:52
Feedback survey - https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/M8MN857

01:39:55
We (Woburn Sands TC) carried out a local community survey on measures we could take to reduce C-footprint (mainly traffic) and enhance biodiversity. We got ~380 responses to 3,400 survey forms distributed - largely positive

01:40:56
We are holding a public meeting on climate on Saturday - do please send the zoom etc ASAP! Then we will feel better prepared! Thanks

01:40:59
Thank you for an excellent event

01:41:16

01:42:09

01:42:48
XR are camped out in front O Cornwall council buildisngs, who are trying to get them removed instead of applauding their selflessness and desire to raise public awareness with out inconviencing anyone
