I'm sorry-I'm handling another issue right now.

We had a brilliant conversation! Heather noted that one of the graphics used deficit language. "Best teachers and students leave," What is meant by best? Does that mean that the students left are the worst?
Christy Osborne
01:05:44
That is SO true. The labeling of "best and worst," "low and high" is all from our own definitions of what those words mean and how they are measured.
Vonetta Clark Tooles
01:05:58
That is a powerful observation Carol Ann. Thanks for sharing that perspective. Those who stay, are often those who are least equipped to leave, but certainly NOT "the worst."

Yes bias and mindset starts with US;)

Thank you, Vonetta! Ms. Stanley spotted this deficit and lifted it for the group. We had such a powerful conversation!

Agreed. Alt Ed definitely has a unique set of challenges that do not necessarily fit into this model.

Thank you for sharing your current understanding.

Yes. We are collectively one system of support for a district/school. It would help to determine how we will orchestrate the on-ramping of newly identified schools and their districts.

Might this model be helpful in rethinking what our service plans look like? Currently, they are very "Activity" focused - what services we will provide along with a general "improvement" statement. What if we got clear about the difference we will make in people's lives?

Sections 2 and 3 – Questions for ISDs/ESAs - MICIP and Development and Implementation of the RAG Service Plan** For each section review the guiding questions and indicators. What edits might you suggest?** What might be collapsed? expanded? differently organized?** What specific evidence might be reviewed?Section 4 – Questions for Districts – Local District Coordination and Collaboration** Review the Guiding Questions. What else might we ask districts? What other evidence might we collect?

Great article! I would also add that we avoid cognitive bias when writing and presenting the results to our stakeholders. We should be analyzing our assumptions, motivations, and desired outcomes as we review the data. BIAS CHECK: make sure we are not focusing on data that confirms or supports our desired outcomes and ignore those that do not.

Is this program review intended to be in conjunction (or perhaps reflective) of the district MICIP plan or is it intended for RAG buildings to follow the this MICIP process separately from the district? If the later, might that pull that building away from the district MICIP plan?
