Here in San Diego County our Gold Spotted Oak Borer has done massive amounts of damage. We would like to build a responsive program to help land owners mitigate this problem on their property.
Barbara Cone, Mariposa County Fire Safe Council

New sources of funding: TOT - Transient Occupancy Tax could include a .5% to go into a county restricted fund for fire preventing activities

Suggest redirecting fines assessed to utilities for causing fires by Public Utilities Commission, that currently go to General fund, to fire prevention research and higher education to develop future solutions and practitioners
Barbara Cone, Mariposa County Fire Safe Council

New activity: removing ladder fuels dead/dying trees from a WUI high density rural HOA development to reduce house to house transfer of fire. Remove radiant and direct heat elements.

Chris Bachman

We were awarded a grant in the last grant cycle, but have not been able to start since we are waiting on the final signatures for an executed contract. Will this have an impact on us applying for another grant in the fall since we will still be in the RFP process for CEQA? We anticipate starting the shaded fuel break in the next 90 days, but have other areas in the county that we would also like to apply for funding.
Gary Miltimore, Sierra Foothill Conservancy
38:29
I understand you are discussing prevention grants but will CALFIRE also be providing grants for post fire recovery efforts? (erosion control, revegetation etc.)
jennifer

New area; fund research into fire prevention, damage avoidance through FP grants versus Forest Health program which are resource management focused. This focus is on built environment versus forest resources
