It seems wait times for screening appointments continue to be a burden of patients. One example is a patient from our practice was not able to schedule a consult for colonoscopy until May 2023. I would love to hear thoughts on this and how we can better address this?
Karen Schmitt
01:17:09
For those utilizing community volunteers for messaging to targeted communities, how to you keep them engaged and active?
Elizabeth Bouchard
01:19:34
are there priorities or needs you hear from community partners that you wish we had more resources to offer? in other words - are there additional areas we should be focusing on based on what you hear from community members?
Hannah Potts
01:19:42
I'm curious is the NYSCC offers a list of some of the resources that already exist to get patients to screenings (grants etc.)? Particularly throughout NYS, not just within NYC.
Sarah Merritt
01:19:59
For rural engagement, do you have any recommendations on how to identify community champions? Health departments, schools, local government.. have you had any better success with one or another?
Roseline Ogbonna

You mentioned focusing on hot spots / certain zip codes for certain initiatives. Can you speak to what NYS/NYC available data you use to do this - both zip code level data and race/ethnicity data? For example - census, NYS registry etc.

Consumer advisory boards can be tremendously helpful to informing efforts. Have you had any issues in translating the expertise of the consumer advisors into action within your institutions? In other words, is the input of the CAB valued by the institution and used to truly guide next steps? Any tips for navigating? Seems like a large opportunity to build our trustworthiness to be responsive to community needs...

I am sorry to be late as I had a pre-existing scheduling conflict. Earlier this week, I attended the annual meeting of the National Lung Cancer Roundtable. One of my takeaways was the number of stated based initiatives that are now focusing on lung cancer Might there be enthusiasm for recruiting and convening a NYS Lung Cancer Roundtable to advance lung cancer screening and control outcomes in our state? If so, there is a new toolkit offering guidance for establishing state-based lung initiatives. I already have heard interest from folks representing MSK, HHC, Roswell, Mt Sinai, and Monty.

Jamie - thank you! Great that you can be on and sharing this info. Whitney Mendel from Roswell and Mary Reid have started a statewide Lung Cancer Screening Action Team of the Consortium. @whitneymendel or I can send you info about getting involved. It will be great to have you join that growing/active group

That would be great! I am determined to see whether we can accelerate adoption of lung cancer screening in NYS. See ALA 2022 Report Card. https://www.lung.org/research/state-of-lung-cancer/states/new-york No one in NYS should settle for 'Average'
