Hello! Welcome to Part 4 of our Dementia Workshop series. We'll get started shortly. Thanks for your patience!

01:28:11
Please feel free to type any questions or comments you may have into the chat box here throughout the presentation!

01:29:13
Rather than removing battery cables, you can replace one cable with one that has a rotary off/on switch!

01:30:22
Lock the door to the garage so they can't get to the car. Lock the car doors when you exit so the loved one with dementia can't get in. Guiding them around to the passenger side and suddenly the door is unlocked and they can get in there.

01:35:10
Do you find that the dementia symptoms worsen once they do make the move to the community living?

01:40:41
When I say something that my Mom doesn't recall, she will often accuse me of making it up "to make her look crazy". Should I try to provide support for what I'm saying, or just let it slide?

01:43:49
Another issue is hearing loss. Sometimes my husband never heard me, or heard only part of the words. "Oh, I'll speak up better next time."

01:46:20
How about when you have to protect your loved one from someone (usually a family member) who is trying to take advantage of them?

02:04:30
Is there a trick to get your loved one to change their routine to encourage more stimulating/engaging activities?

02:04:47
thank you

Reading out loud to them is a great activity.

02:13:43
Is frequent napping a symptom of advancement, or more of boredom (both of which seem to be common with my loved one who lives alone, and blames her memory issues with being alone)?

02:20:39
Thank you, great seminar!
