Corfe Castle PC have set up a working group re: organising a celebration event for The King’s Coronation. A meeting is being advertised in the monthly Parish News (and on its website and FB page) in the hope that other village groups (such as Festivities, Aquarius, Crazy 4 Corfe) will wish to work together on organising an event. The main thinking is to have 1 event possibly a BBQ or picnic with a local band playing general easy listening music on Monday 8th May. The National Trust have already offered use of the Castle. In addition, if anything is nationally mentioned about a beacon lighting, then CCPC will join in with that as well.

26:55
At Stoke Ferry we hold an annual summer fayre and we are going to move that to the Coronation weekend , Sunday May 7th.We will have a BBQ, Band and various other activities for kids. As we already run an annual fayre it won't take much to book the usual stalls although we may add some specific activities such as "make your own crown" type of thing nearer to the time.If there is a beacon lighting we will take part as we have a permanent beacon in place.

29:47
Colwich PC, Staffordshire are holding our 2nd village fete with stalls, food etc and and children's entertainment with live music through into the evening. We spent £500 last year on a permanent beacon so I am disappointed to find we can't use it this year but it will last for years so we can use it again. The Platinum Fete was so well received we had been planning to repeat it alternate years but hey ho, it has become annual

30:01
Hi everyone, thanks for joining us this evening :-)

30:50
We are having 3 days of celebrations. Saturday large screen for showing the coronation, film in the evening, Sunday community lunch, marquee, entertainment, quiz, Sunday Entertainment and street market ended by singalong community. Does anyone know a time yet on the Saturday?

32:14
As Charlotte said, you can stay up-to-date on all our work on your behalf via our website www.nalc.gov.uk and by subscribing to our mailing list https://www.nalc.gov.uk/nalc-newsletter to receive our newsletters and weekly bulletins

33:24
LGA guidance on council publicity in the pre election period can be found here https://www.local.gov.uk/our-support/guidance-and-resources/pre-election-period It will be updated in the run up to the elections this May and we will circulate the update once it is available

35:40
Please do share your plans for the coronation on the chat. Great to already see some examples being posted

37:52
When can we expect the Royal Palace to announce guidance?

38:36
We are planning to get the community together - Saturday day and into the evening. Picnic/food trucks, live music and activities for the children. Early stages of planning.

39:24
West Bletchley will be holding a big street party open to all and Woughton community Council is planning a Party on the Green for picnics, music and TV coverage

42:42
As with the Queens funeral licensing regulations to screen the event were waivered, enabling the community hubs to show it and the community to get together. Is this the case for The Coronation? If so, do we know the timings of the ceremony and TV coverage?

43:42
The main thing we need to know is What Time Is It?

44:01
Aldworth PC are showing the coronation on Saturday on the big screen in the Village Hall, with the bunting out and tables set for a bring your own picnic / lunch / snack depending on the timings. We also hope to serve Pimms. On the Monday we are doing a whole village photo on the recreation ground!

44:33
Can we light our beacon?

44:50
Do we expect official artwork, logos etc for the production of posters etc

44:58
No beacons - at his Majesty's request!

45:21
seems odd?

45:38
too close to when they were lit for the Jubilee

46:03
Save the beacons for D-Say 80 in 2024!

46:07
We've applied for a TEN, just in case

46:08
D-Day sorry

46:23
Cranleigh Parish Council are working with community organisations to hold a celebration based around our High Street on Sunday 07 May 2023 11.00am to 5.00pm. There will be a craft fair, hog roast, ice creams, children’s roundabouts, youth music band, local band and choir. The Scouts and Guides are making red, white and blue craft decorations for the High Street.

47:32
Apologies for late arrival

49:23
Anne Hall - Wondered if it would be helpful to run one of these sessions after the guidance has been announced

50:49
Once the Palace have released information /guidance it would be really helpful to host another meeting to update this group. Is this possible?

51:40
Michelle +1

52:15
Agree with Michelle too.

52:34
Agree also

52:47
Agree with Michelle, that would be helpful

53:02
Thanks Finella, answers my question too. Which website can we watch for this update?

53:15
Fenella, sorry

53:32
The TV Licencing Website. They will update their community page once they have decided what to offer.

53:43
Also when do we put the phot of the king in the chamber

53:51
agree - a follow up meeting when the guidance is out would be most helpful, thank you

54:24
photo !

54:29
Temporary event notices administered by our District Council.....they did waive the fees for temporary road closures too to enable street parties so if NALC could investigate this that would be helpful

55:10
Our community response preferred the event on the Sunday....

56:30
The Royal Family website is here https://www.royal.uk/

58:24
And the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is expected to be the government lead department, their website is here https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-digital-culture-media-sport

58:26
Wendy Plant - can't answer for other counties, but Leicestershire CC have already said they will waive any fees for road closures.

58:54
Thank you Anthony

59:00
Have all councils here either discussed the coronation in a meeting or had it scheduled for a future meeting? With the guidance coming out so late it may be difficult for councils to turn around all the activity in time?

59:27
Will the events be live-streamed?

59:37
Charlotte we planned a budget but awaiting guidance....

59:48
no formal meeting until the guidance issued

01:01:05
special coins? free books/gifts for children?

01:01:44
Charlotte - we held our budget meeting last night, and approved spend for this event. Councillors are reluctant to put firm plans in place until guidance Is issued, especially with memorabilia.

01:01:57
Will specific funding be available to apply for?

01:02:05
we have to give our budget for precept by end of Jan so have had to guess funds required

01:02:07
Can you find out if we will be allowed to reproduce the kings cipher?

01:02:19
I added this to the January agendas. One meeting was on 11th and the other is scheduled for 23rd. If they don't give me anything concrete at these meetings I doubt I'll be able to pull everything together in time!

01:03:02
Charlotte - can you ask Bruno if we should plan to sing the National anthem at a certain time in the absence of a beacon being lit

01:03:15
Will the Cof E give guidance on civic commemorating services?

01:03:28
Will the Church of England be issuing guidance too, so that local councils can coordinate activities with their local church?

01:03:31
Winchester CC has discussed and hoping to support in a grand style! Notices/requests already gone out about closing of streets for parties . My own Parish has already put a deposit down for a large screen to place in the village square anticipating there will be high demands from many different quarters.

01:03:35
Andrea - just about to ask that.

01:03:47
We would like to know whether we can place union jacks on lamp posts like we were allowed to for the Jubilee. We are in Hampshire and their street lighting contractor don't usually allow it but did for about 10 days over the jubilee. any national pressure that can be applied might be useful.

01:03:49
For Info: in light of climate change/emergency actions my council will not authorise the production of mugs/coins/badges/flags etc, to minimise waste going to landfill. Better to have a more sustainable option such as wildflower seed packets/bombs for the children.

01:03:55
Colin that is exactly why we have moved our event to another day.

01:04:15
Reacted to "For Info: in light o..." with 👍

01:04:39
Reacted to "For Info: in light o..." with 👍

01:04:57
Love the wildflower seeds idea, So much better than more 'stuff'!

01:05:21
How far in advance can we put up bunting?

01:06:32
Our bunting is scheduled to be put up on the 18th April in time for St George's Day and will remain in place until September. We're using eco friendly bunting too.

01:06:50
Becky what bunting flag is going up??

01:07:13
Could King Charles be asked what he’d like to be planted ?

01:07:27
Perhaps the guidance could include allowing time needed to get the necessary licencing consents, road closures, food safety, emergency services notifications etc.

01:07:48
Apology , have to attend ano meeting, lok forward to receiving the answers to the various questions

01:07:48
Just to amuse you all. I was only 3 years old at the last Coronation, however my father photographed to procession in the Mall using a periscope to lift his camera, which caused consternation on the faces of military men who wondered what was being pointed at them. he was accompanied by a friend of the family who was an African missionary on furlough. he took a large volume of sermons with him, saying that there was bound to be a long wait and that gave him something to read. In fact when the procession arrived he used the volume to stand on to get a better view.

01:07:52
Thank you Bruno

01:08:33
It's made from recycled plastic bottles, it'ss quiet and relatively durable. I think the company recycles it for us. We're having alternating red, white and blue flags,

01:08:45
We are planning improvements to our local wood anyway, so it would be great to know what trees/plants King Charles might favour. We could put plaques in the wood to commemorate the Coronation!

01:09:18
Please, if any of the staff could notify me on how to reach out to the Commonwealth office, you’re more than welcome to do so.

01:11:28
Thanks everyone, I need to go to my next meeting

01:12:28
We had complaints because we didn't put bunting up for the Jubilee!

01:12:41
we used reusable union jack bunting for the jubilee and will use that

01:12:41
Deborah I suggest in the first instance go to this site - https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/foreign-commonwealth-office

01:12:42
We will be reusing our Union Jack bunting! I

01:13:03
Thanks everyone, must leave for another meeting. Would hope we can have another meeting as it seems to me we still need an awful lot of information - and the sooner the better.

01:13:06
Union Jack up for St George's too?

01:13:15
As a new clerk I’d like to know what we can’t do during the pre-election period please.

01:13:18
Why not?

01:13:21
Here in Beverley we put up the union flag bunting.

01:13:28
We have bunting up every summer- red, white and blue

01:14:01
Can you intersperse Union Jack bunting with St George Cross bunting? Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't!

01:14:15
Clever....

01:14:25
There was specific designs for the bunting for the Platinum Jubilee, wondered if this would be the same for the Coronation please?

01:16:46
Definitely good to get the ball rolling and get people thinking! Thanks so much to everyone for coming to share what you’re planning and the really helpful questions/issues raised

01:17:16
Thank you

01:17:19
Thank you - very helpful

01:17:21
Thank you. Look forward to next one

01:17:21
Thanks

01:17:21
Thank you, that's been really helpful!

01:17:22
Thank you - I'll look forward to the next meeting

01:17:23
will you automatically send us an invite as attended today?

01:17:24
Thank you

01:17:26
Thank you, bye all
