It's difficult also because you like some things about your current job which you know you won't get in the new job, and yet you need to leave for other bigger reasons.

The context for leaving will shape everything. Why are you leaving? If you like this job but you're pursuing the next level in your career, that's different as compared to leaving because you don't like the company.

For me it's been like I don't like the company but I like the job. I would love to do the same job in a different company.

Unfortunately, that happens more often than not.

I have been in all job out of college. I was not well at point and it was hard because an old manager sought me out to be an assistant manager. I was so depressed and I couldn't bear to go to work. I didn't go back. It was the worst. But in other instances I did give notice. And earned a bonus more than others also.
