When referring to broader groups of people is using "gender diverse" people an acceptable way to include all people in an inclusive way?

49:49
Gender Neutral: someone who doesn’t dentify with a particular gender; avoiding distinctions between genders.

Another thing to mention is the initialism “LGBT”“LGBTQ” “LGBTQ+” “LGBTQIA+”. As an organization we are working on updating our name. We’d suggest LGBTQ+ or LGBTQI+

A challenge we have in our community, currently, is to ensure inclusivity we really need to speak to these populations. Current data sets do not support these efforts to demonstrate impact (i.e. Census Data only shows m/f demographics).Thank you for sharing these data sets/sources! do they drill down to county level?

Replying to "Can you explain why ..."Can you explain why lesbian and bisexual women have higher rates of breast cancer?Barriers to care can affect breast cancer screening rates: fear of discrimination, low rates of health insurance, and negative experiences with healthcare providers. There is higher rates of associated risk factors, such as obesity, alcohol use, and lower rates of pregnancy (protective factor). Here are some sources to learn more: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3890640/ and https://www.cancer.org/healthy/cancer-facts/cancer-facts-for-lesbian-and-bisexual-women.html#:~:text=Lesbian%20and%20bisexual%20women%20may,may%20help%20save%20your%20life.

We've been having conversations about a complete adult preventive care checklist and how to make it more useful for all people. Have you found any good examples of something like that out there?

01:24:40
I think of a family that has a LBGTQ family members or cisgender in a single household. How to make the checklists useful for all family members.

01:26:07
Replying to "Can you explain why ..."Can you explain why lesbian and bisexual women have higher rates of breast cancer? There is no definitive data on why, but lesbian and bisexual women have higher rates of associated risk factors (obesity, alcohol use, and lower rates of pregnancy which is a protective factor). These communities also experience additional barriers to care and screenings: fear of discrimination, low rates of health insurance, and negative experiences with healthcare providers. It does not have to come down to this, however, as an option, do you think that LGBTQ+ community accessing care from a physician from the same community could reduce the health disparity? If yes, are there data showing so and are there any such resources?

It does not have to come down to this, however, as an option, do you think that LGBTQ+ community accessing care from a physician from the same community could reduce the health disparity? If yes, are there data showing so and are there any such resources? There is limited data on this issue, however there is a study that shows that interaction and role modeling with LGBTQ+ physicians decreases implicit and explicit bias by medical students against LGBTQ+ patients (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28766125/). Again, there is not much data on LGBT medical students, but the most recent data (2017), shows that only around 5% identify as LGB (no data on transgender students) and may not publicly identify as LGBTQ+. Unfortunately, finding an LGBTQ+ provider as a LGBTQ+ patient may not be easily accessible.
