During the hour, please add your questions for Rachel to the Q&A box at the bottom of your Zoom screen. She’s going to dedicate the latter half of the session to questions 🙂

20:59
Your background is impressive!

28:10
2 weeks ago when I was laid off.

28:12
Hello Tech Ladies! I was wondering if the presentation will be available after the event for attendees? Thank you for taking my question :-)

28:22
3,5 years.. 🙂

28:23
Been knowing I wanted a change for 1 year now.

28:24
I’m sorry to hear about the lay off!

28:29
3 years

28:33
I finally made the switch into a new career about 1.5 years ago! But it took me roughly 6 years of learning the skills for it before I finally landed the job. 🙂

28:45
only been trying to change career for 6mos

28:49
Same for me @Brandy.

28:55
@Catherine, I’ll see if I can get a copy of the slides to share with the recording ~

28:55
Thinking about it for 3-4 years now.

28:57
1 year!

29:11
1.5 year

29:17
About to go on maternity leave, but job is in limbo with a lot of uncertainty of what it will look like when it gets back.

29:21
@Cheryl you're the best!

29:26
Mindset building is difficult. A roadblock is def the mindset.

30:34
I'm so burned out at my current job that I have no energy to look for a new one.

30:46
@savanah same.

31:02
Ditto, not easy to job search when burned out

31:28
Same^^

31:32
About a year but have gotten way more serious over the past few months.

31:33
I hope you’re both able to take some rest for your mental health

32:05
Ben there…you need space for that digression and introspection. Always good to think of ways for how we can give that to ourselves to give ourselves that…💜

32:06
Can you make the slides available for after the session.

32:06
Looking to move out of education but do love elements of my job. Debating between Customer Success and Data Analytics

32:08
I want a jobe that i can work globally that doesnt require a locked door. No one I know has this type of job. I enjoy my job but i dont want to be patient facing anymore.

32:24
Would like to develop more into my current role at my current company,

32:30
I just started maternity leave and have been looking to make a change for a long time.

32:50
That's why I left Project Management, I didn't want to be client facing any more. I wanted flexibility and a challenge.

33:11
I left my last full-time wellness coach position in a call center environment because I was feeling I needed/wanted more… Working with a career coach, I am trying to find clarity what my next career step looks like… I am currently learning more about UX/UI Design, feeling this may be a better fit…

33:23
Please add your questions for Rachel to the Q&A box ~ she’ll get to them soon!

34:06
I want to be a PM now because of the challenge😄 @Andrea why don’t like to be a PM?

34:10
Storytelling is huge. I’d love to hear examples of this for those who have pivoted or landed a role they really wanted.

34:13
Hi, came in late today due to connection issue. Will the slide be available after the session? Thank you

34:49
I find the hardest part currently is getting to the interview phase as I have the experience and could explain why I am the best fit but just aren't getting those opportunities.

34:58
Hi Nana! We’ll share the recording before the end of the week and I’ll see if we can share the slides with the recording.

35:08
Susanna, ironically, I loved it, but hated the company and the type of clients they were pulling in. Software Development has always been a passion so I jumped when I could.

35:13
Thanks, Cheryl!

35:17
No problem!

36:04
I LOVE the idea of moving from long term > short term. I tend to get so caught up in whether a role is something I want to be in for the next ten years that I block myself unnecessarily. I need to keep my focus on the next right step!

36:11
I'd love to know what ya'll find satisfying and fulfilling about a job. Like, what makes you feel good about work?

36:29
I’m in love with this slide ❤️

36:40
Using my powers for good.

36:49
I love this slide!

36:56
I agree! Will this be recorded and sent to participants? I feel that Rachel is bringing up so many good points right now and I’d love to listen to it again

37:02
How do you balance exploring over applying when you were laid off last week and were totally blindsided by the layoff?

37:04
Right? It’s great to see how to shift the way we think about things during the process.

37:25
Savanah for me, it’s been about getting to use skills that make me feel good and like I’m using my brain, and being around co-workers that are easy to be around. They’re fun and want to help each other do good work and progress in our skills.

37:35
@Ji Young, yes we’ll share the recording before the end of the week :)

37:48
Thank you!

37:50
+1 to Linda's comment

37:58
@Lydia, please add your question to the Q&A box so we don’t lose track of it ~

48:35
Anything that delivers me food. LOL

50:45
Your putting words and a process to my thoughts!

51:39
Which was section 1 and 2?

51:47
I've actually already started this! I had a few interviews at the end of last year, but when I look back I realized the reason I didn't do well in them is because I didn

51:57
Thank you!

52:01
*didn't actually jive with their mission

52:44
Are there any Data Scientists in the group?

53:52
Love the point that this exploration should be fun!

54:17
Can I see the slide with both the career exploration and job search timelines on? I want to take notes on it.

THANK YOU!

Thank you!

56:25
A lot of times it's very difficult to get informational interviews even if you clearly state it's "informational". What are your suggestions regarding how to successfully get informational interviews? Thank you

57:33
Can you talk about getting informational interviews?

58:36
Me

58:40
For informational interviews, I built rapport with the people I wanted to interview first, before asking them for an interview

58:45
None of my family new what Salesforce was

59:19
Brandy, my mom STILL doesn't know what Salesforce is and I feel like I explain it again every other week 😄

01:00:09
I was like my Aunt who lives in San Fran has to know what Salesforces is... NO, she even worked downtown.

01:01:35
love that- exploration before application.

01:02:48
How would you suggest navigating your likes / skills vs natural career growth (for example, if you are a software engineer - the natural progression is to go into management, but you do not necessarily love management but want to grow professionally)

01:04:21
Is there a place where we can share our LinkedIn profiles and connect with one another? I am currently transitioning into software development and would love to connect with other women in the tech field

01:04:33

01:13:57
I was in technical support, we lost our jobs to outsourcing, I decided to learn to code and specialized in Front-end, fell in love with it. Searched for a job and noticed that employers are looking for employees with college or university degree. I went to a Bootcamp but noticed that it wasn’t enough so I’m getting into college now for a full year including an internship.

01:14:00
