At the high school level we did the shredded book activity. Stephen King books were very popular.

How passive display of bits of nature with poetry books that relate to it…flowers, etc? The new Caldecott Honor book Have You Ever Seen A Flower would be a great companion, too. It would encourage students to experience nature with their senses and lend itself to poetry writing hopefully!
