We discussed similar themes about connection. Students can tell when you are being genuine. Even if you don't say it directly, they can feel when "you don't have time for them." The best teachers are the ones that make you feel like "we are in this together." Ones that celebrate or recognize what you do well... even if the skill doesn't necessarily pertain to the subject area directly.
