A few years ago at the end of Pansy season, I went to my nearest big box garden store and bought all their clearance pansies (like 700 of them) for super cheap. And they lasted super long in my shady garden. Looked Beautiful!

For winter-sowing, one usually cuts almost but not all the way around the jug, so it can be opened and shut. Some duct tape to fasten it shut early on.

Carrots do want at least a carrot-length of soil depth that the root can poke through easily. But loosening soil doesn’t have to mean turning it over!
