Here in Vancouver, I am on the traditional, ancestral, unceded lands of the Coast Salish peoples: sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh), and  xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam). I am grateful for learning about local indigenous plants and medicine, and to be learning in the liminal place where Lane, Sea and Sky intersect (important realms in my Irish heritage!).

Imbolc is also the feast of Brigid, our Irish goddess/saint. Here are a few words for her day: We call you, saint of fire,Protectress of the peat-stack,meet us where we kneel on the hearth.Give kind warmth of fireto us and our kin, like the outstretched hands of a mothertaking our hands, like her arms sheltering us.Be in the midst of the house,be the mothering firein the midst of the house.
