Return to Play Guidance: https://usaultimate.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Return-to-Play-Guidance-v.2-FINAL.pdf

24:52
Where might club tryouts fall in these stages? Or I guess general thoughts on tryouts

29:42
has there been any thought/is there a plan on how mask-wearing will be enforced at sanctioned events?

35:48
so is that on TDs to enforce, or captains? What are the consequences? immediate disqualification?

36:20
Is there a specific temperature threshold where heat factors into a person’s ability to breathe properly? I’m from Dallas and we typically have 100+ days throughout the summer. Wearing masks in the heat has been a big topic of debate in our community.

36:30
You might already have this on the list, but are there different safety considerations for youth, given that there aren’t vaccines approved for under 16? Thinking both in terms of recreational events and U17 YCC. Thanks for having this event!

37:37
Later mask question

37:52
Putting all the science and technicalities aside ... are people emotionally ready to return to play? In my area, we are having trouble "rallying the troops". People seem very reluctant to play, regardless of what the experts deem safe. I'm curious on yall's thoughts.

38:48
Thank you!

38:51
We are using a 3% Two Week Positive Test Rate to determine when we start workouts in pods. Some of our math folk are saying this won’t work when testing gets low. Is this a real problem? Are there better measures?

38:59
@Brian, we've starting tentatively putting out feelers and putting on small practices and people are super eager here. I've heard of a few local pickups as well. So far people seem a little rabid for frisbee but I'm sure it'll end up being pretty mixed

39:23
I think we need to respect where people are coming at from return to play. We might not be emotionally ready, or will be ready at different times. Creating opportunities that are flexible and account for this is important.

39:43
Excellent Q

40:59
It's a breezy day, I'm on the field writ large (not on the playing fieid) 20-30 meters from another human, will it introduce a tension/ will there be a discussed understood pass that it is no big deal to have it down a while in such a situation? thx

41:29
I apologize but that is not a satisfactory answer

41:45
the question is which metrics do you think we should use.

42:23
case rate? vaccination rate? mortality rate?

42:35
some other metric ?

42:46
and what goalposts?

43:42
you keep referencing "county" metrics, but I'd imagine most communities draw players from multiple counties in the area . . . do we need to consider tighter communities to start?

44:02
That is not true for most school districts.

44:42
draw from different counties is absolutely a concern for club ultimate though

45:36
^^^^^

46:51
variability in testing makes that metric seem less valuable to me. mortality rate and vaccination have been suggested to me as more valuable.

47:12
^^^

47:37
mortality rate reflects load on health services as mentioned by Harris

48:03
vaccination rate will hopefully give an outlook on likelihood of transmission

50:09
Are “shared discs” really a concern? I though transmission via objects was negligible to none (??)

50:15
^^^^^^^

50:16
^^^

50:24
^^^

52:33
What thoughts re: testing availability/mandates/recommendations for larger geographic draw events

52:50
^^^^^^^

52:59
It seems important to note that this is a novel disease and we do not know the long-term effects on young people who get sick, even if they seem to be less affected.

54:30
would love to know what the guidelines Harris is successfully coaching under. trying to pick a format/protection level that’s reasonable has been challenging.

54:32
How concerning is the recent European wave and current re-lock downs? Is there a timeline to expect those trends to show in the US?

59:07
So we're okay to do traditional marking during scrims and such as long as we're masked?

01:01:16
can you speak to the transmission rates of vaccinated individuals who can be a carrier?

01:02:58
Joe, there was an Israeli study published in the Lancet recently that suggested a significant decrease in transmission in those who were vaccinated

01:03:12
^^^^^

01:04:04
Can you speak to the equity considerations that went into the guidance? Are we paying appropriate attention to the impact RTP has on our communities (or communities tournaments are held)?

01:04:16
^^^^^

01:04:30
^^^ yes!

01:04:34
^^^^

01:04:34
As from the beginning, and even if you are vaccinated, make the rhetorical assumption that you are asymptomatically contagious to others, behave accordingly -- be a hero and don't "pass it on" to anyone else. When everyone does that we are golden

01:06:18
Do you all feel any more or less confident in whether there will be a phase one announcement in mid-april?

01:06:58
@sara - has been suggested to me that we look @ the vaccination and mortality rates in communities where we play (either home for practices or elsewhere for tournaments) to determine go/no-go for return to play in those areas

01:07:21
Harris, you said you are coaching. What do your practices look like? What activities? How big are groups? Keeping in mind that these areadapted for your area

01:07:50
Ravi, if you coach, same question for you?

01:08:24
Ravi earlier mentioned that we dont have enough data on effect of vaccination rate on transmission to make a determination there yet, but that we are hopeful

01:08:35
no reply re mortality rate

01:09:01
@Ben those are good metrics for sure. I think it’s hard, at least for me, to assess what’s “enough” or if we’re biased from seeing sports all around us returning, even if they’re violating the “can vs. should” debate.

01:09:21
^^

01:09:57
^^^^

01:10:12
@joe with high school youth, we are doing fairly normal practices, just with masks on, everyone in their own six foot bubble for water breaks etc.

01:10:21
@sara 100% agree. was hoping to get clarity from Ravi and Harris on what is "enough" - response from Harris was to look at local metrics and that CA equity measures are good

01:11:12
*to look @ local return to play guidelines as those are set by public health experts - ie when local govt say OK, good to go

01:11:41
To the discussion re: individual fitness > group work > matches, I understand how that works in relation to teams, but how do you handle that in adult communities where “practice” isn’t really part of folks’ experience of ultimate?

01:12:07
i am personally concerned that local/state govt equity measures are not legit (incl for state of CA)

01:12:26
@Stacey I know you all were deliberate in that, and appreciate it.

01:12:32
^^^^

01:12:51
+1 thanks Stacey, Will

01:13:38
Will the recording of this webinar be available anywhere online for people who couldn't make it?

01:13:55
The slow roll back is definitely a great approach but I'm trying to figure out how we apply that to club tryouts where teams might see different people from weekend to weekend or we've got potential players coming from multiple team tryouts, or just different regions

01:13:55
@Nick I think that’s easier for club teams and next to impossible for adult Rec leagues. It’s likely easier to envision RTP for youth because this scaling up works a lot better w/them.

01:14:39
