Hi Everyone...I was born and raised in Appleton. I was born at the medical center in 1979. I have established my roots in Boston but I am looking forward to hearing how my hometown can be more a more inclusive community. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, I unfortunately did not experience an inclusive community in Appleton.

Thanks for joining, Mike. Good to have you join us.

13:41
You too!

14:07
Hi Mike... I grew up in MA and last lived in the Boston area, and after a dozen years in Chicago I have lived in Appleton for 5 years

14:57
Interesting how life can be full circle in the end!...my parents both were raised and grew up in MA

16:13
Kara, can you make me a presenter as well?

19:46
What proportion of the surveys did not answer those demographics?

22:03
Only about 15 people didn't share ANY demographic info, but 50-100 people chose to not disclose 1 of each of the demographic responses

22:43
are we able to see the "denominator" of any given group in the Power BI with the slicers available?

24:43
I forgot the survey questions... were there any demographic questions about how long someone has lived in the area?

25:22
There was not, Mike, but that was a suggested addition from Tuesday's presentation.

25:49
How were the age ranges determined?

26:11
What was the prompt people responded to on mental health?

26:21
Thanks for the follow-up - I agree that is a key question... and coming form someone who is not a life-long valley resident!

26:54
@sarah We used loose generational bands (boomers, x-ers, etc). We made a small mistake in the second survey because we failed to advance the bands since 2019.

27:56
Thank you!

28:37
any thought of exploring correlations between those most struggling and which of the main factors hindering well-being they mentioned, as an example? not sure if possible given data set but might be interesting...

30:09
👍

33:56
How do we know if the differences we see from 2019 and 2021 are statistically significant?

34:13
Were the demographics of survey respondents proportional to data we have from the 2020 census of residents in the Fox Cities?

38:47
Do you provide a definition of BIPOC on the data page? Just thinking of community members who might want to explore the data and are not aware what that acronym stands for. Like any acronym, we might think everyone knows it, but they don't

40:14
Did the 2021 survey ask if an individual had responded in 2019?

40:51
Good point, Carolyn. We can add that.

41:33
👍🏼

41:35
@Nancy, we did not, but that is another great question to add.

43:53
Which counties were included? I know there are 19 municipalities included in IFC but not sure which counties that covers?

44:41
Outagamie, Winnebago, Calumet

45:03
As a Boston Public teacher for 17 years, have you presented these stats to area school districts in the fox cities. If so, what are their reactions?

47:22
GREAT work, Data Team! And, love that the data set is available for the community to explore!

48:36
From a public health perspective we are very interested in the components of what is in basic needs and community belonging to help identify strategies for improvement.

49:34
What an amazing team! Thank you all!

49:44
To Doug's point, can we put the vital conditions definitions and visuals at this site as well?

49:46
@doug https://thriving.us/why-thriving/ Mid way down the page you can find a summary sheet for Vital Conditions

49:48
Excellent work, data team!

49:52
Thank you! (If anyone wants to know how to save chat, let me know)

49:55
Thank you!

51:26

51:37

51:39
