love that idea!

01:03:19
That is a great idea!

01:06:55
Thank you for this opportunity to meet the funders and other nonprofits, we are new to the area, but not as a NFP, great words of wisdom!

01:08:11
For Q and A -

01:09:12
We will have about 10 mins for audience Q&A starting at 4pm so please add your Q's to the chat!

01:09:55
Do you prefer to fund deep or wide, meaning a lot of one-time grants, or select long-term partners?

01:11:32
Yes, major deserts here

01:13:08
Thanks @Harriet

01:13:58
In response to the pandemic and limited onsite volunteer opportunities, we created an education series for families, educators and students to learn more about the circumstances around homelessness. Each lessons include engagement for the group including "give back" opportunities they can do as a small group or family.https://www.roomintheinn.org/education-series

01:14:24
Do you have marketing arms in addition to grant/foundation support or are all of your nonprofit partnerships rolled into one request?

01:16:41
This is for Herbert. You mentioned doing projects with staff, for community service. Is that your staff providing the expertise on small construction projects and our staff working alongside? Or your staff volunteering with out staff on simple projects, like clean ups or painting?

01:16:42
Tucker's House families needed us more during this time as they didn't have services they normally would have in the home. They were really stuck at home. We keep our volunteer groups small and our families have been welcoming to us being in their homes to make them safer and more accessible.

01:16:47
Q for Terry Vo (and others, perhaps): How would your team feel about a remote volunteer opportunity? Supplies and instructions are provided; volunteers assemble kits.

01:17:21
Hello, Isabelle here representing Hope for Justice, an anti-trafficking non-profit. A question for our panel: What are your funding preferences : core vs projects grants? Thank you

01:18:36
As we focus on the zero to three sector and building brains early in life, how are our funders hoping to invest in our youngest citizens and their families as our city continues to grow?

01:20:34
Hi Dwight here from Preston Taylor Ministries: in the space of after school, what impacts are you looking for in grant proposals from organizations working directly with children and teenagers? How would you measure or look for effectiveness in a proposal?

01:22:18
thank you all for your thoughtful answers!

01:24:37
Good afternoon. The Arc Tennessee would like to know if the panelist would share more about previous funding choices and if they applied more toward new initiatives or programs that are already established hoping to maintain momentum?

01:29:26
Thanks to the panel for answering our question.

01:29:29
For Herbert or others - do you engage in Individual Placement Support (ISP) programs for persons managing recovery in mental health or co=occurring disorders? We would like to look at establishing a relationship as we are developing programs before defining any financial support needs.

01:30:42
Thank you all for taking the time to share your insights with us. Always so valuable.

01:30:52
Megan McGuire here from the Community Resource Center. For the entire panel - what's the best (or your preferred) way for new-to-you nonprofits/organizations to introduce themselves and begin that relationship-building process with you without necessarily filling up your inbox/voicemail?

01:32:05
Thank you so much for this opportunity. Great information!

01:33:18
Great information!

01:33:37
I really appreciate the responses! Taking notes!

01:34:05
Would it be possible to get the contact information for each funder to discuss potential collaborations?

01:34:42
Yes! @Amber I will have all that in the follow-up email tomorrow.

01:34:53
Great - thanks!

01:35:28
Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors provides humanitarian-based, immigration legal services. Because of client confidentiality and because of the trauma our clients have experienced, volunteerism is limited, but if any of you have general counsel who would be interested in our work, we would love to connect. Our client cases often take years. Do you see multi-year grants in your future opportunities?

01:37:57
Thank you so much! This has been great!

01:38:09
Great session! Thanks, Tari and thanks to all of the panelists!

What was the name of the platform, Dara?

01:43:26
I'm trying to look for it now. Maybe "Life in Video's"?

01:46:13
@Robin - we'd love to hear from your next!

01:46:30
Preach, Melissa!

01:46:30
Life in Videos!

01:46:53
We use the “custom theme/story” so we choose which questions are being asked

01:47:02
Thanks, Dara!

01:47:19
Agreed- when you have an Executive Director that is essentially serving as full-time Executive Director, full-time Development Director, and full-time Program Director all in one it can be difficult to stay on top of everything.

01:47:57
I found it! Learn more about Life in Video's: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/life-in-videos/id1417533649

01:49:08
I would say it's important to communicate to funders when you don't have an ask!

01:49:22
Yes, Leah!!

01:51:35
Thanks for the ideas and encouragement!

01:52:13
We will be sure to share some internship resources in our follow up email. Melissa, maybe you could hire an intern with a very clear scope - to help craft messaging for funders

01:52:22
Thank you for the helpful information and ideas!
