I find addressing mental health has become so much important to our daily interactions with students during the last few years of fires, earthquakes, and pandemic. It didn't seem as important in the past... we focused on getting them to do their work in addition to their social plans; now, it has totally changed. We find ourselves having to support students and provide ways to help them get their work done in addition to the crisis modes we constantly are in.
