Possibly helpful - I learned in another webinar that text fonts preferred are sometimes fluent sitka and fluent Calibri. You may have to download these neurodiverse preferred "fluent" fonts from Microsoft https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=50721

Is there a way to get a print out of the streamtext
Ted Goodenough
02:30:11
I use JAWS, yes it can read a text box
Candice Tobin
02:30:15
My experience with Word is that it doesn't like text boxes as callout boxes. It has to be in-line with text, which doesn't always look good visually
Melanie P. Thornton
02:30:56
In older versions of MS Word, alt text is under Format Picture.
Kim Sykes (she/her)
02:32:27
I'm so used to Adobe products - What are the Microsoft Design tools for making event flyers? Just word?
Emily Watson
02:33:04
Kim, I really like using PPT for those things. Easier to move and manipulate the images and such. You can save a PPT slide as a picture
Aayah Beneda
02:37:20
Yes. Math is terrible online, especially when trying to read the graphs
Alice Wershing
02:37:43
The Word equation editor will generate equations that JAWS will read in Office 365
Matt Porubcansky
02:38:03
I think LaTeX (pronounced Lah-teck) may include accessibility features for equation writers
Aayah Beneda
02:38:17
I need to learn more about JAWS

Candice Tobin
02:38:37
RECOMMENDATION: If I have a document with a lot of images and figures, I like to document my alt text with my images in a spreadsheet so that if something happens to the conversion of the document to PDF, I don't have to start over on my alt text descriptions.
MaryAnn Klassen (she/her)
02:38:42
I wondered how accessible LaTeX is. I thought it basically displays equation as image in pdf
Atiana Beck
02:38:50
Thank you for a great presentation
Kathrine Kyp
02:39:03
Thank you!
Matt Porubcansky
02:39:05
I think it might depend on the implementation, to be honest. I would need to look it up!
Jen Abels
02:39:11
@candice - great recommendation - thanks!
Alice Wershing
02:39:20
Latex is a language that creates accessible math and other STEM content
MaryAnn Klassen (she/her)
02:39:51
Thanks, Alice and Matt. If LaTeX is actually accessible, that’s good news!
Alice Wershing
02:40:16
I have a student who is blind and is able to write equations with LaTex
Carmen Schafer
02:41:23
Does anyone use MathType with O365?
Kathy Collins
02:43:09
Ms Wershing I have a friend who is blind that needs help with accessibility and math; if possible please contact me Kathy Collins at dnyadapt@gmail.com.
Matt Porubcansky
02:45:52
I think "alt tag" comes from web development. In that context, it's basically the same as "alt text", I think
Emily Watson
02:46:30
Thank you so much for the presentation! I'm going to have to head out, but I really appreciate all the wonderful guidance.
Candice Tobin
02:46:54
You could put ALL of your text in text boxes and then just sequence the order of text boxes and images for screen readers...?
