I am interested just due to the high rates of tuberculosis and cardiovascular disease in the areas. Scientific literature will show that tuberculosis and heart disease can be brought on by particulates in the air pollution that can clog arteries. I am wondering about follow up to the Montgomery county's mystery mortality rate article.

Another item on my "wish list" is to include some of the YRBS questions in the MCPS school climate survey to get more timely and actionable information. It takes too long to get the national results back.

Are we taking steps to facilitate Medicaid billing by MCPS for services delivered in our schools?

And/or billing by HHS for services delivered in schools.

How are we addressing health inequity among the Asian population? Such as a culturally tailored diabetes education program. I noticed the proposed Y23 budget designates $1.2 million to the AAHI compared to the African American at $2.9 and Hispanic Health at $2.2 million. The African American Health Initiative has a lot of health related support including diabetes. There is also a Spanish diabetes program in the county. The Healthy People 2030 has an overarching goal to eliminate health disparities and achieve health equity. MC is not achieving health equity by not having a diabetes program that is tailored to the Asian population and not providing adequate funding compared to other ethnic groups.

Laura, we will follow up regarding the HHS/PHS support to Medicaid billing to MCPS for school-based services. We do not provide direct Medicaid billing support to MCPS; however, there may some support via our School-based health and wellness centers or other HHS service areas. The Chronic Care Model is an approach for providing care for persons with chronic diseases. No reimbursement for this. Chronic Care Management is reimbursed by insurance.
