43:33
Linkedin Learning has a few micro videos on storyboarding
D Allen

D Allen
46:17
thanks
Hattie Wiley
46:48
one approach the NOAA Facilitator Network uses is to get a signed agreement from the participant and their supervisor to facilitator so many hours after receiving the training (That approach may spare you from training people who end up not helping out.)
Carla Lane
47:36
@Hattie - great suggestion. Thank you.
Sanaa Taylor
47:58
woohoo!!
Hattie Wiley
48:33
no judgement LOL
Hattie Wiley
51:03
...but that only picks up the voice... no physical description?
Hattie Wiley
51:48
That's cool.... interactive script,.... awesome
Sanaa Taylor
53:14
the history of the topic
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
53:19
Anything that does not contribute to learning
Jolly Holden
53:33
any content that does not support the learning objective
Geoffrey Boyle
53:38
Alternate ways of completing the task sometimes make it too complicated and/or much longer.
Hattie Wiley
54:46
Description, objective, all should be outside the video so people know what they are going to watch
Hattie Wiley
01:09:57
Google Slides answer to MS Smart Art is called "Diagrams" ... some are really cool
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:10:11
They're predesigned templates for graphics and verbiage that makes it look more appealing.
Hattie Wiley
01:11:43
If you are using Articulate Storyline, you can use robovoice before you send out to reviewers.... real time saver.... They don't get the live voice until AFTER all reviewers (for me)
Hattie Wiley
01:17:52
Whooo love ELB
Hattie Wiley
01:17:59
They are the BEST
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)

Sanaa Taylor
01:22:38

Blair D'Amato

DeAndrea Burton
01:22:49

Hattie Wiley
01:25:01
put a noise reducer in front of your computer
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:25:15
I record in my closet
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:25:32
reverb!
Hattie Wiley
01:26:01
a good mic is VERY helpful since you can control the direction of the recorder.
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:26:19
YouTube has a great video on now to set up a closet recording studio.
Hattie Wiley
01:26:32
yep - got a Yeti over here
Hattie Wiley
01:26:39
$100
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:26:42
I use a blue yeti, too!
Hattie Wiley
01:27:30
... you can also control the gain (to reduce picking up other sounds)
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:27:30
Happens here in Virginia Beach, too...all the time!
Russ Colbert
01:28:23
Virginia Beach - Navy, F/A 18's.
Geoffrey Boyle
01:28:35
Many helicopters here DC. And the occasional F-16 or F-22.
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:28:53
I see them every year here...the Oceana Air Show.
Hattie Wiley
01:29:12
speak slowly and distinctly... .if you mess up you can do some minor editing.... but notifyourwordsareallmushedtogether
Hattie Wiley
01:29:55
pop filters or add some foam or I even covered the mic with an eyeglass clothes once
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:30:21
yes
Geoffrey Boyle
01:30:22
Yes, big difference.
Hattie Wiley
01:31:38

Hattie Wiley
01:31:55
naaawww that one is easy to fix
Hattie Wiley
01:32:12
true better to not need to edit
DeAndrea Burton
01:32:40
lol..yes
Sandy Wagner
01:32:53
Yikes. Hurts my ears. We have a recording studio luckily and higher quality USB mics.
Sandy Wagner
01:33:05
It's okay...exaggerated.
Hattie Wiley
01:33:07
if you are peaking (hitting those reds) then you got to turn down the gain or back off or be quieter
Hattie Wiley
01:34:24
you CAN as long as there are no OTHER sounds going on.... sometimes when you try to fix low audio, you find out there is a ton of OTHER noise in the audio
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:34:32
On my blue yeti, I have to keep the gain all the way down, or it peaks constantly.
Hattie Wiley
01:34:59
LOL what dept was that
Hattie Wiley
01:35:00
haha
Hattie Wiley
01:35:06
BIG training budget
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:37:22
We do 3 takes per, and I usually end up having to do a ton of editing, because we have to use employees instead of professional voice actors.
Hattie Wiley
01:37:39
That's why I do one long take then slice... too much time saving each file... then slice and export
Sanaa Taylor
01:37:53
I clear my throat for the same purpose.
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:37:59
We use a pop too...I tell people to clap in the mic.
Shanda Adams
01:38:02
That's brilliant@
Hattie Wiley
01:38:19
I point the mic at my throat.... not my mic... ppppp ttttt bbbb
Sanaa Taylor
01:38:51
I forgot to smile one time. ugh. had to redo.
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:38:52
I talk to myself in the mirror...that helps a lot...like I"m having a conversation with myself.
Hattie Wiley
01:38:57
smile -- if you want to sound pleasant... hehe bwahahahahaa
Blair D'Amato
01:39:23
You can see if a sentence is way too long
Dawn Needham
01:39:44

Marti Carlson
01:39:54

Hattie Wiley
01:44:03
naayyy my everyday voice sux live or in recording.... hahahahahahaha
Hattie Wiley
01:45:18
and don't worry about it... Camtasia or whatever will compress it for you... oops you beat me to it
Kim Hadzima (Leidos)
01:46:02
But, I don't have my closet set up!
Sandy Wagner
01:46:27
Quicktime works too
Blair D'Amato
01:49:29
You changed your voice
Blair D'Amato
01:50:57
uncomfortable twice
Hattie Wiley
01:53:02
I snap on my splits
Hattie Wiley
01:55:03
Normalize
Hattie Wiley
02:01:37
too painful... that is why I like the single file... all edits on one file then slice and dice
Kiran Razzak
02:01:52
Thank you - this was very informative!
Hattie Wiley
02:03:55
I'd have to agree,,,, I do not use silence... I turn weird breathes and background noises down.... so they are less perceptible
Sandy Wagner
02:06:00
Great points, Carla
Sandy Wagner
02:06:08
All caps also reads like someone is yelling
Hattie Wiley
02:06:25
I've been called William Shatner before on my recordings.. but I like all my breaks... b/c breaks can be removed. There is also a speed up slow talker and slow down fast talker option in there somewhere
Hattie Wiley
02:08:45
That is a pre-built Camtasia object. You should be able to click the object on the timeline then change the text in the side navigation panel. (instead of trying to select the text box on scren)
Hattie Wiley
02:17:40
Ken Burns effect
Elaine Heim
02:18:00
What are some good sources for free stock videos?
Hattie Wiley
02:18:08
A Ken Burns effect is a visual manipulation in videography which uses panning and zooming to give motion to static images.
Carla Lane
02:18:40
And people were doing the zooming way before Ken Burns did it.
Hattie Wiley
02:20:37

Paula Ellis

DeAndrea Burton
02:23:17
YES!!!! It was very informative and useful information. Thank you, I will look into investing in a mic to help with my audio issues. I am not a tech guru so all technology training I appreciate. Thank you!!!
Hattie Wiley
02:24:18
It's always good to talk shop... everyone knows something you don't
Blair D'Amato
02:24:29

Hattie Wiley
