The Future of Authentication for eCommerce
Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) was fully enforced throughout Europe over the course of 2021- 2022 with the aim of decreasing payment fraud. According to the EBA’s 2021 annual report, fraud rates have seen declines of up to 50% since SCA has been introduced.*

SCA has, however, had the negative consequence of causing merchants to lose sales through consumer attrition at checkout due to the increased friction created by authentication.

During this webinar, Accertify will explore the future of authentication mandates and where these are likely to emerge next. Alongside this, Accertify will give an overview of new technologies designed to reduce authentication friction and give control of the authentication journey back to merchants.

Catherine Malec

Catherine leads the teams based in EMEA and is responsible for strategic planning, sales, implementation and client relationship management in the region. Catherine joined Accertify from the American Express Global Network Services organization where she most recently led Business Development for bank partnerships in Sub-Saharan Africa. In this role, she managed American Express’s existing relationships with multiple partners, including Nedbank in South Africa and also led the expansion of American Express across the continent launching Amex acceptance in 11 new markets including in Nigeria.
Jonathan Swan
Solution Consulting Manager, Client Onboarding EMEA @Accertify
Jonathan is Accertify’s in house SCA consultant, using his past experience to manage and develop Accertify’s SCA Optimisation product and working with clients to solve their SCA challenges. Jon brings 15 years of experience in financial services with him. 6 of those years were spent as a fraud expert and managing card fraud prevention technology and has most recently delivered a raft of SCA compliance projects.
Alan Moss
Managing Director for Western Europe @Newland Payment Technology
Alan Moss is currently working as Managing Director for Western Europe at Newland Payment Technology, 2nd largest POS supplier worldwide according to The Nilson Report. In parallel, Alan is Head of Fintech and Payments at the consulting company, BluSpecs Innovation. Alan has over 20 years’ experience in the electronic payments business, working with industry leaders such as Hypercom, Thales and Verifone, in a variety of roles from business development and product marketing to global relationship management. Alan also worked in international sales for De La Rue’s security holographics and security print divisions. Prior to working for BluSpecs, Alan was VP of Business Development at Verifone, where he was responsible for the deployment of new value-add applications and services in Europe. Whilst at Verifone, Alan was also a board member and Chairman of the General Assembly of Nexo, a leading pan-European standardization initiative promoting the interoperability of card payments.
