Meet the Mayor - Daniel Biss of Evanston, Illinois
Daniel Biss, the mayor of Evanston, Illinois, will join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute for a virtual conversation at 10:00 a.m. CT Monday, December 6.

Biss and Institute Director John Shaw will talk about Evanston’s recent designation as an “All-America City” by the National Civic League and the city’s slavery and racial discrimination reparation program, the first of its kind in the nation.

Biss took office as Evanston’s mayor in May of this year. He previously served in both the Illinois House of Representatives and Senate. He was elected to the House in 2010 and to the Senate in 2012, and in 2018 ran for Illinois governor.

Biss is an Indiana native. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Harvard University and a Ph.D. in mathematics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He became a math professor at the University of Chicago when he was 25 years old.

This event is part of the Institute’s Meet the Mayor series of virtual conversations with mayors from Illinois communities.
