Join Geoffrey Cobb to discuss Irish Women in New York City. Mr. Cobb will be Zooming from the Bethpage Public Library.
Though Irish Americans have played along and vital role in shaping America, the stories of Irish American men have often overshadowed the important contributions of Irish American women. These women have played important roles in medicine, education, organized labor, the suffrage struggle, and many other areas, not to mention their huge contributions rearing strong families. Additionally, thanks to the grueling work of Irish domestic servants, many of their families in Ireland were able to get an education, pay dowries, and fund the passage of other family members to America.
