On 8 June 2022, The Scottish Revival Network, in association with The Patrick Geddes Centre, will host a public event on 'Patrick Geddes and Revival'. Three specialists on Patrick Geddes and late-Victorian Scotland – Professor Murdo Macdonald (Emeritus Professor of History of Scottish Art at the University of Dundee), Dr Elsa Richardson (Lecturer and Chancellor's Fellow at the University of Strathclyde) and Dr Michael Shaw (Lecturer in Scottish Literature at the University of Stirling) – will present papers that explore Geddes’s motivations for a cultural revival in Scotland, his reception by the Scottish Literary Renaissance, and the broader culture of revivalism in Scotland during the 1880–1950 period. There will then be an audience Q&A session. Chaired by Dr Scott Lyall (Associate Professor in Modern and Scottish Literature at Edinburgh Napier University), the event will take place via Zoom, starting at 4:00pm until 5:30pm. All welcome! The event is funded by the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
