With the recent regime change in Afghanistan, Afghans are waking up to the reality that their private biometric information is in the hands of a new government that could use it against them. The reality that privacy laws may be subject to change as governments change underscores the need for a global, irrefutable, standard for privacy laws that cannot be altered by anyone's government. Without this, potentially billions of people around the world are seriously at risk.
This Session will focus on the lessons and challenges of implementing a global privacy law in the era of threats to democracy and explore how we, as a human race, can implement this human right for everyone.
