Iowa History 101 - Bread for my Enemies: The Friendship Train in Iowa
Join David Mills, Associate Professor at the US Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, as he recounts the story of the Friendship Train in which volunteers sent a train across the nation, collecting food donations to feed the hungry in Europe at the end of the Second World War. The people of Iowa were most generous and have a long history of giving freely to those in need, which they proved again by contributing more food than any other state.
